Why people search “repair”

It's natural, but not always accurate

It's natural to search “repair” when something about a favorite chair isn't working right. But repair implies a guaranteed fix — and for a chair that may be years or decades old, that's not always realistic.

Parts availability, the specific issue, and the chair's age all play a role in what's actually possible.

What repair usually means

A specific fix, guaranteed

A repair typically implies diagnosing a specific mechanical issue and fixing or replacing the part causing it, with an expectation that the problem is resolved.

That's not always possible for older furniture, especially where original parts may no longer be manufactured.

What the Tune-Up includes

What's Included

A straightforward, honest process:

  • Inspection of the swivel and reclining functions
  • Cleaning of the leather
  • Conditioning of the leather
  • A check for visibly broken parts
  • Contacting the factory if a replacement part appears necessary and may be available
  • A general condition update when you pick up the chair

What the Tune-Up does not include

What's Not Included

To keep expectations clear:

  • A guarantee that a specific issue will be fixed
  • Full reupholstery or restoration
  • A warranty on the work performed
  • A promise that replacement parts are available

The Tune-Up currently applies to Stressless leather recliners only — fabric chairs are not included.

Frequently asked questions

Repair vs. Tune-Up FAQ

Is the Stressless Chair Tune-Up a repair service?

Not exactly — it's an inspection, cleaning, and conditioning service. If a part appears broken, we can look into whether a replacement is available, but we can't guarantee a repair.

Will my chair look brand new afterward?

Not necessarily. The Tune-Up is designed to improve condition and function where possible, not to make an older chair look or perform like new.

What does the Tune-Up cost?

The Stressless Chair Tune-Up is $68. Parts and labor for any replacement-part work are quoted separately if available.

What if you can't improve my chair?

We'll tell you before doing any paid work if we determine the Tune-Up won't meaningfully help.
